Pelagie is a vulnerable little girl. She lives with her parents in difficult living conditions. Her father named Brahima is a farmer and her mother Julienne is a housewife. They live in an outlying neighborhood of the capital where many internally displaced persons (IDPs) have taken refuge due to terrorism. Their living conditions are precarious; their main source of income comes from the collection and sale of sand/gravel by the women in the streets and on the bare ground. However, more and more voices are being raised within their community to denounce this practice which leads to soil degradation. Most men are idle. Access to education is the most pressing need after food. Sponsorship is their great hope for education.
