About Global Connection Experience

Bridges of Hope is involved in various international programs that are profoundly impacting the way  children, families and communities are living. Through our network, we provide things like clean water, food, health care and education.

Hope is rising in the hearts of many. Bridges of Hope welcomes volunteers with a passion and compassion for the less fortunate and a readiness and willingness to share in the stories of children and their communities whose lives are being transformed by our valuable sponsors.

Seek to Understand

Our Global Connection Experience trips are either internally designed and directed by senior staff of Bridges of Hope or customized to serve volunteers with special interests and expertise, researchers and various internship participants requiring overseas placement.   

 

  • Each applicant must submit a duly completed application form available electronically or by fax. Space is limited and preference is often given to volunteers who have never traveled with Bridges of Hope and who are interested in the long-term objectives of sharing their stories with a wider audience.  As long as you are interested in learning about Bridges of Hope's work and want to share our impact with others when you return home, you could be eligible.  
  • Once you are officially accepted into the program, you will be advised by email and given instructions about when and where you will meet with the rest of your team. Orientation and debriefing conversations to build energy for the next steps in the participant's journey will be coordinated by Bridges of Hope.
  • Volunteers are given contact information for other team members so they can coordinate travel plans if desired.
  • Because of limited space, approved and qualified applicants may be added to our waiting list at their request.
  • Depending on the purpose of the trip applicants may be required to submit a Criminal Record Check.   
  • All flights will be arranged through the Bridges of Hope travel coordinator. 

Are the Trips Tax-Receiptable?

  • The cost of your trip is not tax-receiptable. Your donations are tax-receiptable.
  • All the funds donated to Bridges of Hope for these trips will be allocated to offset the cost associated with the trips.

Location: Burkina Faso
Price: To be confirmed (approx. $2000 - $2500 plus airfare)
Nature: General, Medical

Task: Assist with gathering stories,  producing health records, gathering photos and other resources to help tell the story of Burkinabe children and families to Canadian supporters. In addition, our team will be working with our malnutrition clinic, public health and teaching various life skills to sponsored children, orphans and vulnerable children.

Task:  Assist with gathering stories, photos and other resources to help tell the story of Tanzanian people to Canadian supporters. In addition, our team will also be participating in various volunteer tasks directed by our local partners while in Tanzania.

Task: Assist with gathering stories, gathering photos and other resources to help tell the story of Congolese and Rwandan children and families to Canadian supporters. In addition, our team will be working with our indigenous leadership community, teaching various leadership skills and connecting with our sponsored children.

Task:  Bring much needed medicines and medical care to Central America. Assist with gathering stories, photos and other resources to help tell the story of El Salvadorian people to Canadian supporters. In addition, our team will also be participating in various volunteer tasks directed by our local partners while in El Salvador.

Location: Haiti

Nature: Medical

Task:  Bring much needed medicines and medical care to Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere where 70% of it's seven million people live on less than a dollar a day and where 30% of all children born don't make it to the age of 5 years old. Our team will assist with gathering stories, photos and other resources to help tell the story of Haitian people to Canadian supporters. In addition, our team will also be participating in various volunteer tasks directed by our local partners while in Haiti.
